The John Gray Road Races
have undergone innumerable changes over the years including alterations in
the time of year and in course designs. The races have included a 5
miler that wound out through the Rock Harbor section of Orleans, a
half-marathon which made its way from the Nauset Middle School out to the
hills of the Nauset Beach neighborhoods and back, a slightly shortened
version of the half-marathon for the 10 miler, and a newly designed 10K and
half-marathon course which take advantage of the new bike path bridge over
the highway. Just like a number of other Cape area races, the John
Gray Road Race can trace its lineage back to the early days of the Budweiser
Road Race series and the exciting times of the US running boom in the 70's.
Here's a small sampling of some of the years' results.
