[Directions] [2011-2012 Standings] [2010-2011 Standings]

Welcome to the 2011-2012 CCAC Winter Grand Prix, seven races running Sundays through December and January followed by a potluck gathering that beats any race you’ve ever been to!  This season, the series kicks off in Chatham at 11:00am Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Chatham Boat Company. Paul Avellar has promised a fun, rollicking 4.5 mile romp around Chatham.

Even if you can’t run, bring along the whole family, help out, and enjoy the camaraderie.  You must be a paid up member in good standing of CCAC to participate in the Grand Prix series this year {our insurance people made us do that} and runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.  Also, you must have run a minimum of FOUR of the possible seven events to win an award. The top four times you run will count as your score in the final standings. Ties will be adjudicated by official race scorers. As usual, Grand Prix awards as well as CCAC awards will be given out at the annual banquet and will be presented for 5 year age groups, clydesdale/filly, and walking categories.  All races start at 11:00AM (except for the Cape Cod Road Runners Winter Fun Run with a 10:30 start!) and are $10 for runners and $10 for guests.  Bring all the friends you can find but you have to be a paid up member to race and earn points for series awards.

2011 Team Challenge! Will Happy Trails finally recruit every CCAC member to their team? Will Nauset Women Warriors dominate again? Does anyone else really stand a chance? Stop doing that individual thing and hop on a team this year! The same rules apply as in previous years: teams consist of 3+ in men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.  Signup for a team on race day and as long as you get at least 3 people signed up with the same team name, we’ll score you in the competition.  You can only be on one team per race, scoring will be cross-country style, and team-hopping is permitted … but not recommended. To see what you’re up against, browse through last year’s results.

Mark your calendars, for you don’t want to miss these competitive but friendly social events. Where else can you run, eat, drink and party on a winter Sunday for only $10.00? One additional thing — please bring a dish or some goodies to take some of the burden off the host or hostess for Chatham Boat, YPD, and the 19th Hole.  Directions will be provided on the website a week before the race and at the previous weekend’s race.  See you there!

Volunteer Points! Earn extra points as a volunteer! We know it’s wet and sloppy and you don’t get to the food until it’s all gone so to show our appreciation, volunteers will get 5 points for each race worked this year instead of run. Just be sure to sign in on the race sheet and put a big “V” next to your name. And no cheating – we’ll have Bob Edwards checking up on you!

WALKERS! You’ll be timed separately again this year and starting early so that you make it back before the goodies are gone. Be ready to start at 10:30AM at all races!
