lower cape triathlon

Hello,

This summer on June 16, WOMR-FM / Lower Cape Communications, Inc. will present in Wellfleet the 2ND annual Lower Cape Cod Sprint Triathlon, aptly named “What a Race in a Most Beautiful Place.” Produced by Myya Beck of Heart Core Fitness Studio in Wellfleet, this event is forecasted to bring more than 100 triathletes from Cape Cod and the greater Boston area, plus their loved ones who line the road to cheer them on.

Triathletes will compete as individuals or in relay teams, racing through a 1/4-mile swim in Long Pond, an 11-mile bike loop and, finally, a 3-mile run. At the end of the race, everyone is invited to the Wellfleet Beachcomber to celebrate the accomplishment with food, drinks and local musicians who are donating their time and talent for the event. The triathletes are responsible for raising $200 plus registration fees as individuals and $300 plus registration fees as teams, with all proceeds shared between WOMR-FM and the Wellfleet Montessori Pre-School.

Do you want to help raise money for such a good cause? Why race and be a part of this event?

·      Encourage a healthy event and travel to the lower Cape for a competition.

·      Exposure to a group of people, with common interest, and be part of a sanction USAT event.

·      Support Cape Cod kids by donating to the Wellfleet Montessori Pre-School, and local radio WOMR-FM.

I hope to see you at the race!  If you have any questions or need additional information please feel free to contact me. All are welcome!

For now, thank you for your consideration and Happy Spring!

Sincerely,

Myya Beck of Heart Core Fitness, Race Director

Dear CCAC,

I would like to invite you and your running club to the American Running Camp.  This is an overnight training camp at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth/Newport, Rhode Island. The camp will take place July 30 – August 4, 2012 and is open to adults of all abilities.

Portsmouth Abbey offers multiple fields to train on as well as six-lane track and fitness center. It is located only eight miles from downtown Newport which makes it very convenient to travel to the beaches, restaurants and shops. I will have excellent coaches in attendance to teach training and racing techniques and provide workouts and lectures. In addition, there will be many social activities planned for everyone in downtown Newport and at Portsmouth Abbey.

Thank you in advance for considering this camp and please call or email me for more information.

PRESS RELEASE, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MARCH 2012 CONTACT: Cheryl Osimo Director of Events & Communication cosimo@mbcc.org 508-246-3047

NEW “SPLASH AND DASH” AQUATHLON EVENT AT THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF AGAINST THE TIDE

New for the 20th anniversary of the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition’s (MBCC) Against the Tide event is the first ever Against the Tide Aquathlon! The Aquathlon is a “splash and dash” event. First, “splash” in the 1-mile competitive swim, then immediately following, “dash” onto your choice of a 5K or 10K competitive run.

In addition to the new Aquathlon, the recreational 1-mile swim, recreational 2-mile kayak, recreational 3-mile walk, and recreational or competitive 5K or 10K run are still available to participants in any combination. Please see the schedule online at www.mbcc.org/swim for details. At this website you can also register for your choice of any of the competitive or recreational event offerings — in any combination.

The family-friendly, statewide morning event brings people from all demographics and of all abilities together with one goal in mind: breast cancer prevention. Proceeds benefit MBCC, which is a grassroots advocacy organization that supports research to find links between breast cancer and the environment in order to work toward preventing the disease in the first place.

“We are very fortunate to have such tremendous support from citizens of Massachusetts demanding greater protection of their children’s future health in our effort to stop breast cancer before it starts,” says MBCC’s Director of Events & Communication Cheryl Osimo. “MBCC often is overshadowed by the larger national breast cancer organizations, and we depend on our generous supporters to continue our work.”

The Against the Tide event will be held at DCR’s Hopkinton State Park on June 23rd in Hopkinton, MA (20 miles from Worcester, 30 miles from Boston) and again at DCR’s Nickerson State Park on August 18th in Brewster, MA (Cape Cod). For more information and to register or make a pledge, please visit www.mbcc.org/swim.
