Honor Ed Gill this weekend with a beautiful fall 5K through Orleans. Organized by local fisherman and CCAC member Mike Naughton, the race remembers the former Harry’s owner and friend to local runners. If you’re not up for a run, how about a walk or fun bike along the course instead? Afterwards, enjoy the post-race barbeque, fresh chowder and raw bar featuring the products of Stony Island Seafarm. Start time is at 11:00AM on Sunday, 26 September at the Odd Fellows Hall (at the corner of Rock Harbor and Namskaket Roads) in Orleans. See you there! [Application]

On Saturday, October 16th, our friends at Marathon Sports in Boston will be sponsoring a morning talk with Newton Running co-founder Danny Abshire, Newton Running product development director (and adventure racer extraordinaire) Ian Adamson, and Running Times columnist Mark Cucuzzella on the theories, benefits and practical application of natural running form. The free workshop will run from 10am to noon and will be followed by an interactive demonstration of proper technique at the MIT track. RSVPs are required to tomail@marathonsports.com. If you’d like to carpool from the Cape, contact Andy Scherding who will be organizing the local caravan.

The Cape’s best known road race, the Falmouth Road Race, draws many thousands to Woods Hole in August to line up with international elites, national and local running stars, and family and friends. But after the summer chaos has left, the Falmouth Track Club stages a much quieter version of the run, the Falmouth In The Fall Road Race. Limited to just 400 runners, this afternoon race features the same course, cooler weather and less congestion. Registration is now open until Thursday, 7 October for this November 7th race. Register now to log your best time on the famous Falmouth course.

With hurricane Earl likely to make a sloppy mess of the Saturday morning training course, practice organizers have decided to postpone practice tri #7 until Sunday, September 5th. Start time will still be 7:00AM at the Brewster side of Long Pond and ‘race’ director Andy will be taking a bike tour on Saturday afternoon to check the course status. If there are any major obstacles, we’ll report changes in the status of the practice here and on the Long Pond Triathlon Yahoo Group. Train safely this weekend!
